Academic Performance
We are extremely proud of our pupils who sat their GCSEs in June 2024, who having been out of school for long periods of time, applied themselves and gained GCSE's in English and Maths. All pupils made progress from their baseline grades.
Three pupils sat examinations, of which:
one arrived in late November after being out of school for three years. He started well at the school, but unfortunately, following some issues with family and police, his attendance and attitude to learning declined. With support from staff, he reengaged into learning and achieved a Grade 3 in English and a Grade 2 in Maths. He also sat Functional Skills Maths and English and achieved a Level 1 Merit in both.
one was only on site from October to December due to safeguarding concerns and had a bespoke package of learning put in place to support which included Blue Whale Digital Media, remote English and Maths lessons from the school and external tutor. They absconded from the care home for a week and so missed the last English and Maths exams. A special consideration application was sent to both examination boards and accepted, they achieved a Grade 3 GCSE in both Maths and English.
One had high anxiety and parents felt that they were not ready to sit any examinations, with lots of encouragement, support and revision, they were able to sit their Maths GCSE and achieved a Grade 4.
