Our Vision and Aims

To deliver an engaging, challenging, and nurturing curriculum for young people with SEND giving them new perspectives and firm foundations for the future. Our pupils are given a broad and balanced curriculum encompassing a rich tapestry of learning opportunities tailored to support their academic and life learning journey.

The majority of pupils attending New Perspectives School have an EHCP, with a range of SEMH needs, and have experienced a less than conventional experience of education to the point of admission. Many of our students have experienced gaps in their education, exasperated by the recent Covid Pandemic. We believe that every child deserves to receive a curriculum which is not only bespoke to their individual needs but also challenges them to reach or exceed their potential in all areas including academic, social, emotional and life skills.

To address gaps in learning we will provide 1:1 sessions for all students and embed basic skills in Numeracy and Literacy, which are fundamental skills and knowledge required to be able to access all areas of the curriculum.

We want to foster a love for learning in our pupils. We believe that pupils learn best when their curriculum is both challenging and enjoyable. Everyone learns differently and by giving opportunities for learning both in and outside of the classroom, all learners needs are better met.

We will prepare our young people for the next stage of their education and their lives, giving them vocational opportunities and experience in work environments and visits to post 16 destinations.
We will give our young people the practical skills to enable them to live independently/semi-independently by teaching them life skills which include healthy living, money management, travel and giving them opportunities to put these life skills into practice to develop knowledge, understanding and confidence.

We will prepare our pupils to become valued members of our our diverse, multi-cultural, multi-faith society, showing respect for others’ views and lifestyles.
